Vehicle Transfer Seats: Making Cars Wheelchair Accessible
Getting in and out of a vehicle can be a struggle for wheelchair users, especially those who want to ride in the front seat or drive the car. The good news is, BraunAbility provides transfer seats that make the entering and exiting process strain-free. Aside from its functionality, you also don’t have to worry about compromising your style as they can be installed in over 150 different SUVs, minivans, and trucks.
Turny Swivel Car Seat
The BraunAbility Turny seat is a rotating seat lift that moves outside of the van and lowers down to your desired height. It is controlled using a remote or an app on your smartphone and is compatible with a wide range of vehicle models. Considering its features, it is the perfect solution for customers with limited leg strength and mobility to safely transfer in and out of the van.
B&D Transfer Seat
The B&D Transfer Seat gives you a highly advantageous 180-degree turning power. Using a pendant or a control box, you can turn the front passenger or driver seat towards the center of the car and maneuver yourself into the most suitable position to settle down or drive. Despite the added rotating element, this option (as with most transfer seats) retains all the original car seat’s factory features.
Apart from the alternatives mentioned above, some BraunAbility wheelchair accessible vehicles also come with Flip-N-Fold Seating and Step-and-Roll Seating for extra seating flexibility.

Does BraunAbility Offer Interchangeable Seats?
BraunAbility acknowledges the convenience of interchangeable seats for some customers as it enables a wheelchair user to switch from the driver to the passenger seat on long trips. However, it is simply not safe. The airbags fitted inside the car are designed to protect the passengers based on their specific positions. If the seats are rearranged, the airbag’s direction is either altered or even disabled upon deployment. This makes the occupants more prone to injury during collisions. For this reason, BraunAbility has opted not to provide interchangeable seating to guarantee our customers’ safety.
